The course Curatorship in an expanded field is part of the Immigrant’s Imagery Museum project. It entails discussing Heritage, Self Image, Exotification, and Visual Arts De-Colonization in the broad area of Art History and Museum Collections.

The participants will learn the basics of conceiving, writing, and making an art exhibition by learning from theoretical references, virtual visits to online Art exhibitions, and group discussions starting from their particular point of view about the experience of being an immigrant.

By participating as co-curators, the group will choose artworks that better reunite the qualities they believe are essential to transmitting their Culture and heritage’s uniqueness.

The final product is a curatorship in a Virtual 360°gallery and an exhibition of the process as the conclusion of the Occupy Baltan Residency.

Module 1 Nov. 4


What images come to your mind when you think about your country and its people? What colors, textures, and smells can you relate to? In comparison, when you think about the international view of your country, what is true and what is not? Do you believe misperceptions can be constructed according to what images are spread and consumed by foreign persons? Has Art-History any part on it? Let's talk about it.

Module 2 Nov. 11


We understand the world through our language. How can we learn from different views and idioms? Images can communicate and be understood as a Language too. How can we know how to read an artwork? How can we describe it beyond adjectives? Let's write about it.

Module 3 Nov. 18


What artworks talk to you in a deep sense? Are you aware of the most important paintings produced in your mother country? Are there artworks that you think might portray your culture and heritage? Don't worry if you can't answer those questions. We will dig into virtual exhibitions and museums all over the world using VR. Let's see it.

Module 4 Nov. 25


You already know you need to start curating. One more thing: Where do we start? Let's read curator’s texts, talk about how to construct a curatorship, learn what artists and curators have to say about showcasing artworks, and put our hands on. Let's build it.


We look for participants with a Non-European background currently living in Eindhoven, older than 18 years.

The classes will be taught in English.

An intermediate level of English Language knowledge is required.


Camila Vieira, aka, is an abstract artist, Art-educator, and independent curator who currently develops research about using new technologies such as Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality in the expanded field of curatorship and Art education. Graduated at Art: History, Criticism, and Curatorship from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo/ Brazil, she has several articles published at Revista Desvio.
